Bombo Clan SOUNDSYSTEM & COOKIE THEHERBALIST
The BomboClan-Soundsystem originated about four years ago as a part of the BrosRockCrew, which immediately landed their first hits in the breakdance and funk-scene two years before with the "Enter the Dragon EP" + " Metro Superstar ". This led to the fact that the famous MZEE label from Germany published BrosRockCrews two albums; incl. a special edition of the track " Metro Superstar " for the distribution in Japan (Far East Sound ...). This should already show enough about the soundquality of the two brothers from Langenthal (Switzerland).
Besides the success in their habitual musical activity-field, the brothers of the BrosRockCrew, Rosko and Search, also started organising Dancehall-nights, where they mixed Reggae, Ragga, Dancehall and HipHop in a special and unique way. Then one day the singer and MC Cookie theHerbalist and the percussionist Shabb's joined the BomboClan-Soundsystem, which still is to be understood as a part of the BrosRockCrew. From now on the two Selectors were supported by live singing and entertainment and even by percussions. This could be described like that: unique DJ’ing-style, crazy mixing and typical dancehall -samples, the whole gets the extra of the live singing and entertainment performance of Cookie theHerbalist as well as live percussions by Shabb's. The result: pure party! Well this Soundsystem "rocks" every dance... "
“lil' lion and his radio” This is the title of the Dancehall-Reggae album with the first productions of Rosko and Search together with Cookie theHerbalist. A sum of 10 tracks based on Reggae classics (uptodate-remixes by Rosko & Search) and also on completely selfmade Riddims.
The fact that Cookie theHerbalist already owns rich skillz and stage experience, is impossible to ignore. He got those also as MC/Rapper/Singer with the nationally known Rap combo "Suiceside" as well as Reggae / Ragga-Feature-Act with the Band "Mundartisten". He’s still active in both groups. Cookie doesn’t just take over phrases which have been heard quite a hundred times in Reggae. No, he sings about known subjects with his own new lyrics and his own style, which even partly makes a small Rap influence perceptible. It’s quite sure that we will get to hear his voice quite often in the future.
The mentioned album “lil' lion and his radio” has completely been made in selfproduction. So now the time for a suitable distribution has come. And it should also be a purpose of this article/interview to make this production a bit more known. The BomboClan-Soundsystem would not be declined if their CD would be published by a bigger (Reggae) label... so if somebody who reads these lines should own a label and search for something fresh, then he shouldn’t miss the opportunity to sign Cookie theHerbalist and BomboClan...And such would still be said here: Quite lot more ago come very soon...
