Leader of Bertram Brown’s Freedom Sound label, Prince Alla enjoyed success in the mid-seventies with a series of hits such as « Sun is Shining », « Mama Don’t Fight » and « Come Away ». From then on, one success followed another for this rastaman. Tired of squabbles with producers, he abandoned music to become a fisherman. He returned to the forefront in 1994 with the Jah Shaka sound-system and the album « Jah Children Gather Round ». Next, a string of collaborations, rubbing shoulders with, amongst others, Jay Warrior and Junior Ross. Prince Alla stands out for his skill as a composer of songs celebrating peace and the rasta faith, unchanged over his 30 year career. |
