„It’s Open Season...“ – followers of the Jamaican dance music of the '60s might think of „...DJ Hunting“ when they hear this. As of the last four years, the name of this song is no longer only associated with the Stubborn Allstars, but also with this: the band from Switzerland that, with their energy and joy in playing, moved from playing in the dusty aula in the suburbs of Bern to the best clubs in Switzerland and on a European tour. The new meaning of „Open Season“ is groovy ska and reggae, warm bass and dancing through the night. It’s Open Season... – hot and fire!
About the music:
First of all bass – lots of bass, that goes straight into you. The beats go from tradtional ska and rocksteady through to roots reggae and dancehall. On top of it all, there are jazzy horns and the lead singer's voice moves between soul and ragga. Right, the Open Season sound contains many different styles – but is, at the same time, identifiable as their own and original. One thing is for sure, though: it is danceable. On that note: turn up the bass... |

Seit nun bald vier Jahren ist nicht mehr nur der Song der Stubborn Allstars die Assoziation, sondern auch dies: die Crew aus der Schweiz, die sich mit ihrer Energie und Spielfreude innert kürzester Zeit aus der verstaubten Aula in der Berner Agglomeration in die besten Clubs der Schweiz und auf Europatour gespielt hat. Die neue Bedeutung von „Open Season“ ist groovender Ska und Reggae, wummriger Bass und durchtanzte Nächte. „It’s Open Season... – hot and fire!“
Zur Musik:
Zuerst einmal Bass – viel Bass, der direkt in den Bauch geht. Die Beats reichen von traditional Ska und Rocksteady über Roots Reggae bis hin zu Dancehall. Darüber gibt’s jazzige Bläsersätze und einen Leadgesang, der sich zwischen Soul und Ragga bewegt. Die Band spielt ausschliesslich Eigenkompositionen. Richtig, der Open Season Sound trägt verschiedenste Stilrichtungen in sich. Dennoch ist er unverkennbar, authentisch und vor allem – tanzbar! In diesem Sinne: turn up the bass... |
