Beenie Man takes a queen
24 August 06
More than 250 guests attended the much talked-about wedding of Beenie Man and D`Angel.

Moses 'Beenie Man' Davis, the man who once sang "man fi ave nuf gal an gal inna bungle" and "one gal can't satisfy me" was singing a different tune at his nuptials with Michelle 'D'Angel' Downer, now Mrs. Davis, yesterday.

The two wed at the Crichton Estate at around 6:25 p.m., two hours past the scheduled 4 p.m. start.

The lovebirds arrived to screaming fans and well wishers as the Lexus SUV carrying Bennie Man was followed by two stretch Limos carrying the bridal party.

Beenie was first to enter the venue which overlooked the hills and natural curves of St. Andrew. The decorations at the swanky venue was consistent with the all white theme: white carpet, white petals and floral arrangement, guests dressed in all white.

While waiting on his wife to be, Beenie met and greeted friends, family, fans and other well-wishers.

'Weh mi wife deh?'

He continued in this mode until he realised that time was going close to the traditional 6 p.m. cut off time. He asked over the microphone, "weh mi wife deh, yo me ready, anybody si me wife? One pregnant, red hair girl. Pastor deh ya, me deh ya, everybady deh ya".

His wait was over at about 6:00 p.m. as some action got on the way when the flower girls and ring bearers started the march down the aisle.

Singer, Andrew Lawrence performed a few soulful renditions to welcome the bridal party which was promptly followed by the bride. As D'Angel walked solemnly down the aisle to meet her husband to be, Moses stared intently at her and the two met with a hug, while tears of joy filled both their eyes.

"Me glad fi uno, yuh zi mi," Reverend Al Miller told the couple as he outlined the responsibilities that go with marriage.

After having the serious talk it was time for Moses and Michelle to take their vows, this process offered brief entertainment for the audience as Beenie's jovial character came into play. He twisted most of what Reverend Miller had asked him to repeat to suit his personality and his wife Michelle followed suit.

With cameras flashing and video lights on high glare, the two publicly declared their love for each other with hugs and kisses before making their way to the reception area.

In the words of Reverend Al Miller, Mr. and Mrs Moses Davis were officially declared husband and wife, "the newest in Jamaica and the Western Hemisphere," he said.
